How Many Hours Of Our Days Are Spent Sitting?
Did you know that on average, we spend 33 years of our life working!
How much of yours is spent sitting? It’s important to consider when sitting can cause up to 66% more stress on your spine.
Can Sitting at My Desk Too Long Cause Back pain?
Normal spinal curves provide strength to our spines, however, long hours of sitting can fatigue our lower backs and weaken the upper back and neck eventually leading to discomfort and back pain. Back pain is felt as a result of the curves in your spine straightening, which, over time also weakens and deforms the ligaments and discs – irritating spinal nerves in the process. Tension can build up in the spinal cord which can also present as back pain. As curves in your spine are diminished, a process of “wear and tear” or degeneration can begin.
Long periods of sitting are commonplace in today’s computer age and are linked to increased back and neck pain and if you consider that the average person spends approximately 33 years of life working there is an urgent need for people to keep up a program of Chiropractic Care to help manage these problems and prevent the stress and tension from building up.
Many people ask why everyone needs a Chiropractor, but it is obvious that we are not living as nature intended. Ancient humans spent their days in motion moving from place to place looking for food and shelter, lifting and carrying, eating fresh, raw, unadulterated foods and escaping the daily stress of living without ingesting all the pollutants that our nervous systems have to deal with today.
