History
The history of Los Angeles begins with the indigenous tribes who settled in what is now California around 8000 B.C., followed by Portuguese explorer Juan RodrÃguez Cabrillo’s exploration in 1542 and Spanish settlement established by Gaspar de Portolá, which was built up into a small town on September 4, 1769, known as El Pueblo de Nuestra Señora la Reina de Los Ãngeles del RÃo Porciúncula: The Town of Our Lady Queen of Angels at the River Porziuncola; later shortened to just “Los Angeles.”
1969 was a monumental year for the world, as California became home to the first ARPANET transmission. The UCLA-to-Stanford message kicked off what would become one of humanity’s most impactful technological breakthroughs: Internet communication.
The City of Los Angeles established itself as one of the largest metropolitan cities in the world under many different flags, like Spain, Mexico over time. In 1984, the city had the privilege of hosting the Summer Olympic Games for a second time. As of the 1980s, Los Angeles has become one of America’s most divided cities in wealth.
The 20th century saw the annexation of many areas to Los Angeles, including San Fernando Valley, Hollywood, and parts in between. The referendums for secession were rejected by voters when they came up in 2002.

Just outside Los Angeles, California’s premier family vacation destination is Disneyland. The park has attractions and experiences in elaborately created theme sets based on movies from the 50s to the present day. For even more action-packed adventures, head over to Disney California Adventure Park with seven lands based around movie themes like Monsters Inc., Toy Story Land, etc.
The iconic Hollywood sign, the historic Chinese Theatre, and Rodeo Drive are some of the top places to visit in Los Angeles’ suburbs of Hollywood. If you’re lucky enough, you might even spot a celebrity or two on your trip!
Visitors flock to Santa Monica for its beautiful beach and the iconic Ferris wheel at the pier, but this city’s offerings go far beyond surfing. You can find various experiences in this uniquely California destination by exploring downtown shops or taking public transportation up Hollywood hills.
The Natural History Museum of London is best known for its collection of dinosaurs, which includes the growth series that features three Tyrannosaurus rex skeletons. The 14000-square foot Dinosaur Hall contains a Triceratops and Stegosaurus as well.
Food & Drinks
There’s a lot of competition in the streets east of Los Angeles for almost anything. You can find the best churros, coffee, and birria here – people will drive far to try it out or share their experience on social media!
If you can’t get enough Mexican food on your street, then Thai Daily BBQ is a great spot to check out. It serves up generous plates filled with mac salad, bbq chicken in thai sauce, and more. Try it if you want some goodness for lunch or dinner!
The best taco joints in Los Angeles are hard to come by, but Zingo Tacos is a frontrunner. The family-owned restaurant has been around for over two decades, and all the meats they serve have a fantastic char that adds so much depth of flavor when cooked right!
